Dental implants are the best and modern method of replacing one or several missing teeth. On the one hand, dental implants help the normal performance of daily functions (speech, eating, etc.), and on the other hand, they restore the natural and aesthetic appearance of the smile. The implantation process generally takes place in two stages. In the first stage, the dental implant is placed, and in the second, it is upgraded with a prosthetic structure. Acceptance of the dental implant by the human body is related to the biological process called osseointegration – this is the building of a fine connection between the implant and the jawbone. A prerequisite for successful osseointegration is the presence of healthy bone and healthy gums. Since both may not be available after the loss of a tooth, sometimes preliminary preparations such as a sinus lift and bone grafting to restore the alveolar ridge may be necessary.
